- Great finger food ideas: Luncheon
Meat Roll-Ups: Lay out luncheon meat
and top with cream cheese. Roll up
and cut into sections. For older
children you can use half of a
toothpick to secure
- A wide-mouth thermos or snack-jar
thermos can also be used for cold
food, such as gelatin, pear or
applesauce, pudding, cottage cheese,
etc.
- Make your own "lunch-able"
container filled with accepted goodies.
- Inquire if a microwave is available at
school. If so, send leftovers to reheat.

natural candy. You can
supplement that with items such
as books, stuffed animals, novelty

Adding Back Salicylates
When you begin testing:
- Try only one salicylate at a time.
- During this time observe any
changes in health, behavior or
attitude.
- Even handwriting may show a
change.
- Many familes wait until a Friday
so that the can observe the
individual over a quiet weekend
away from the pressure of
school or work.
How to Make
Natural Food Color
Pink - Chop beets and cook them in a
small amount of water or use the juice
from canned beets. Concentrate the
color by boiling down or microwave into a
syrup (be careful not to burn it). Extra
Syrup can be kept in a small container in
the freezer.
Yellow - Add turmeric (available in the
spice section of the supermarket) to
white frosting. Refrigerate it and allow it
to deepen overnight. Add a small amount
of lemon extract to disguise the taste.
Green - You can purchase chlorophyll
or cooked chopped spinach only to the
bright green stage. Store in freezer.
Purple - Boil chopped red cabbage in
some water. Concentrate it as directed
for the beets. Keep the syrup in the
freezer.
Blue - A steely, grey-blue may be made
by adding baking soda to the cabbage
juice.
Brown - Add cocoa to frosting.
Stage One Meal Ideas from Marty Moir
- Pot Roast in the crockpot with potatoes and
carrots.
- Homemade no sauce pizza - just cheese,
spices, and toppings.
- Hamburger gravy with peas over mashed
potatoes. Pasta with butter and spices
- Crockpot macaroni and cheese.
- Stage one nachos - beans run through the
blender with chips, cheese, and corn.
- I also like to make chicken broth using
boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I freeze
the broth and then use the chicken as cooked
chicken for various chicken casseroles.
- Pancakes for dinner.
Easter Egg Hunt
To make the hunt fair for all
the children, have the older
children collect only the
eggs that are above their
knees. That helps the little
ones to find their share of
eggs too.
Ham for Easter?
The Feingold Association
does not eliminate
nitrates, but many
members prefer to avoid
this chemical. Parents of
children with
neurological issues such
as tics and seizures have
reported that this
chemical preservative
brings on the symptoms.
Fortunately, nitrate-free
ham, bacon, luncheon
meats, hot dogs, and
other processed meats
are becoming more
readily available.
Passover Cooking
During Passover some Jewish families
use potato starch in place of flour for
their delicious traditional cakes. These
are both wheat-free and gluten-free.
Consult a Jewish cookbook for recipes
using potato starch.
