In 1971, when Barbara started our company, the Bay
Area was buzzing with young people full of a desire to
express their love for all people. The world was changing
daily as they created their own paths and sought to turn
others onto new directions.
Barbara, then 17, found her calling in real food and
opened a small natural bakery in Northern California.
She had a simple plan—make wholesome food taste
incredibly delicious. Inspired by good health, family, and
the kitchen table as the cornerstones of the good life,
she used whole grains and oats just as nature intended—
free from anything artificial. Barbara selected her
ingredients carefully to allow vital vitamins and minerals
to do their best to impart their healthy benefits.
Since those first loaves more than 40 years ago, our
bars, cookies, crackers, and cheese puffs.
product offerings have grown to include cereals, snack
bars, cookies, crackers, and cheese puffs.
Today, a few of us wish we still wore flowers in our hair
like Barbara did. And, we know our mission is clear:
healthy people, naturally. We carry on Barbara’s
commitment to create the best-tasting natural products
free of artificial preservatives and ingredients,
hydrogenated oils, and refined white sugar.

Edward & Sons’ Trading Company, Inc. was born out of a
commitment to create delicious natural foods featuring
convenient preparation in step with busy, health-aware
lifestyles. We travel the world to taste and evaluate regional
foods, to source the finest ingredients, and to partner with
the most reliable farmers, packers and food artisans to
create our unique range of natural and organic specialties.
We began in 1978 with instant Miso-Cup®, the natural
vegetarian soup and seasoning. Featuring simple,
wholesome, freeze-dried ingredients in a handy pocket-
sized pouch, it required only the addition of hot water to
create savory, satisfying soup-in-seconds™ just about
anywhere. Miso-Cup has nourished people on the go for
over three decades, and remains extremely popular today.
It became the first of many Edward & Sons’ items that
would exemplify our motto: “Convenience Without
Compromise” ™.
We are a vegetarian company, which means that all foods
throughout our family of brands contain no ingredients
derived from meat, or fowl or fish. Most of our items are
also suitable for vegans. Please refer to the section on
“Vegetarianism” below for more details.
You will find our products marketed under an eclectic
family of brands: Edward & Sons™, Premier Japan®, Let’s
Do…Organic ®, Native Forest ®, The Wizard’s™, Road’s End
Organics®, etc. Each brand represents different
characteristics and product groupings. For example,
Premier Japan® serves up full-bodied Asian flavors in
popular bottled sauces such as Hoisin and Teriyaki. Ours
are wheat-free, vegan and certified organic. Let’s Do...
Organic® products encompass fun and fanciful organic
specialties like Ice Cream Cones and Gummi Bears, and
include packaged ingredients for the home baker such as
Coconut Flakes and Tapioca Starch – all certified organic.
Native Forest® brand features unique natural and organic
specialties in cans or glass jars, ranging from Marinated
Artichokes in Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, to rich and creamy
Organic Coconut Milk, to plump and juicy Organic Mandarin
Orange Segments packed in their own organic juice. All are
sure to please the palate of the most discerning natural
gourmet.

Enjoy Life® Foods, founded in early 2001, has the mission
to make great-tasting allergy-friendly and gluten-free
foods that nearly everyone can eat freely without worry.
The Enjoy Life product line is gluten-free and free of the
eight most common allergens: wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree
nuts, egg, soy, fish and shellfish. Company founder Scott
Mandell started Enjoy Life after writing the company’s
business plan, as part of a class assignment for the MBA
program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of
Management. The notion that people with dietary
restrictions must frequently sacrifice good taste and
nutrition in order to find allergy-friendly and gluten-free
foods inspired the business plan. Scott and his team
envisioned a unique company that would offer great
tasting, nutritious foods for people on restricted diets.
In late 2001, Scott, a former banker, traded in his
business suit for an apron and sought funding for the new
venture from friends, family and “angel investors.” He
used the funds raised to get the company off the ground,
develop products and build a dedicated nut- and gluten-
free bakery in Chicago, IL. The company took the unusual
approach of investing in a special facility so that people
with food intolerances and celiac disease would know
that all Enjoy Life products were made in the safest
environment possible. In January 2006, the company was
the first to receive independent gluten-free certification
for all Enjoy Life products from the Gluten Free
Certification Organization (GFCO).
Enjoy Life line launched with 12 tasty items including
cookies, snack bars and bagels, shortly after the
completion of the bakery. Initially, Enjoy Life products
were available online and through natural food stores.
Today, the product line has grown to 36 different foods
including cookies, granola, cereal, snack bars, seed and
fruit mixes, chocolate bars, and baking chocolate, all of
which are sold in natural food and conventional grocery
stores throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as
specialty online retailers.
In early 2006, Enjoy Life moved to a new production facility
in Schiller Park, IL, which is twice the size of the original
bakery and includes plenty of room to accommodate the
company’s rapid growth. Fueled by increased consumer
demand for great-tasting allergy-friendly foods,
distribution expansion into new markets and retail outlets,
and the introduction of delicious and unique new products
allowed for the expansion growth. Enjoy Life Foods was
named to the Inc. magazine’s 500/5000 List of Fastest
Growing Private Companies for four consecutive years
(2007-2010).
Our Salt Water Taffy was first introduced in 1895 and the Angel
Mint® in 1919. Both are products of the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Business proprietor, Mr. Ron Krueger eventually relocated the
manufacturing facilities of these two products as well as his
line of fudge, chocolates and marmalades to Florida where
small business entrepreneur, Jerry Rehm was first introduced.
Even though Mr. Rehm’s background was not in the art of
candy making, the fine quality products were easy to fall in love
with! So much so, Mr. Rehm bought the rights to the company
in 1984. An early business decision was made to concentrate
the company’s efforts & resources to perfecting the Atlantic
City Boardwalk style Salt Water Taffy and the “melt in your
mouth” Angel Mints®, thus the fudge, chocolates and
marmalade lines were discontinued.
To maintain the quality & integrity of the products, Mr. Ron
Krueger stayed on with the company in various capacities (until
his retirement in 1999), while other exceptionally experienced
candy makers were added to the Florida Candy Factory family.
Mr. David Clagette from the original Atlantic City Boardwalk Salt
Water Taffy founder -Fralinger / James Candy Company
(founded 1880’s) joined our team in 1993. With over 36 years of
candy manufacturing experience his leadership as our plant
manager is instrumental in our products success! Additionally,
David’s expertise in engineering & machining allows our
authentic early 1900’s era cut & wrap machines to be
refurbished and / or maintained at the highest quality! Literally
allowing us to operate as a “fully functional candy machine”
museum! (Our cut & wrap machines date from 1907 to the mid
1950’s).
Mr. Richard Mattiace came from Richardson Candy (founded in
1893). He joined our team in 1993 and is our General
Supervisor. His candy making expertise of 34 years as well as
his organizational skills assure our superior quality
consistency and order scheduling exceeds our customer
expectations!
Mr. Reed Anderson is also from Richardson Candy. He joined
our candy factory family in 1995. With 30+ years as a candy
maker, his skills as our expert taffy chef clearly separate our
taffy from the competition! Unlike the big taffy makers we
manufacture our taffy in small 270 batches. Reed’s ability to
ensure batch consistency is truly an art form!
The remainder of our Florida Candy Factory family includes
candy makers, machine operators & mechanics as well as
packaging experts and shipping specialists. We firmly believe
that a successful business results from the efforts of each and
every employee. We couldn’t be more pleased with the quality
individuals that make up our Florida Candy Factory team!

In 1992, the concept for Verve was born
when we visited an economically
depressed chicle-producing community in
Northern Guatemala. Up until then, we had
never really thought about how chewing
gum was made. When we realized its
origins, we learned that prior to the
synthetic resins, chicle was the basis of
the entire industry. Our goal was to
support chicle-harvesting by purchasing
chicle. With this goal in mind, Verve was
born, and with it our first and most popular
product, the Make Your Own Chewing Gum
Kit.
Today, Verve provides a sustainable
source of income for those communities
while simultaneously offering fun,
educational, and environmentally friendly
activities for kids.
Our pioneering Make Your Own Chewing
Gum Kit has captivated the imaginations of
thousands of children while helping them
to learn more about the world around
them. They are often used in classrooms
where students are studying rainforest
ecology, the history of food production, the
chemistry of cooking, and the
interconnections in our global community.

Welcome to Go Max Go Foods, the company
with a curious name and sensational
candy. We are a vegan family-owned and
operated, Dallas, Texas based business.
Our name is a tribute to our delightful
"pound puppy" Max, a German
Shepherd-mix, who for sixteen and a half
years taught us through action that life
should be about big love, having fun at
every opportunity, and not worrying about
tripping when you're chasing after your
dream (in his case, usually a tennis ball).
The memory of Max in motion, running with
a fierce determination, inspired us to
exercise that same tenacity when it came
to developing a quality product and bringing
our dream to fruition. In honor of all the
great times we shared with this dog, we felt
his favorite cheer,
Go Max Go! would be a fitting name for our
company.
Although Max's teeth never developed into
"adult size" chompers, he believed he had
the fangs of a mountain lion. His courage
was without limit and his love was
boundless. So be like Max and live your life
like you have big teeth!

For centuries, the word "India" referred to a fabled
kingdom in the East known to the western world for its
silk, porcelain, spices, sugar, and tea. These treasures
traveled westward by caravan over the legendary Silk
Road, then from Arabian ports to Europe by sea.
In actuality, "India" was not a single place or kingdom,
but a composite of many countries and cultures as yet
unknown to Western civilization.
The desire of Europeans to discover "India" gave birth to
the Age of Exploration, followed by three centuries of
expanding trade and colonization. It also gave birth to
new nations. America grew strong and prosperous on
trade with the East.
The never ending quest for the exotic has given rise to
many legends. Inspired by such tales, we, at INDIA TREE,
are creating a legend of our own by bringing together
under the INDIA TREE label an extraordinary assortment
of quality products from around the world.
