Hide Veggies in Soup!
Use a blender or food processor
to puree cooked vegetables
(potatoes, carrots, etc.) and
add them to soups or to your
own broth.   This will make a
creamy, hearty soup.

Trouble Finding
Breads ?
If you live in an area
where the breads listed
in the Foodlist are not
available, you may call
your local bakery and ask these specific questions.

  • Is there BHA, BHT or TBHQ  in the pan
    grease?

  • Is there raisin syrup (Stage Two) in the dark
    breads?

  • Are there artificial colors or flavors, such as
egg shade?  When you locate acceptable
    breads, please notify the Product
Information Center (PIC) so that your
products may be formally researched for
    inclusion in future Foodlists.

  • Many times the artisian breads are good
because they can be baked on wooden
paddles instead of in sprayed baking pans.
Passover is on April 19th

Colored
Medication
Even if the medication is not available in an
uncolored, unflavored form, there still may
be ways to get around this:

  • Colored Capsule - In most cases, the
powder inside is not dyed.  Ask the
pharmacist to provide it in a clear gelatin
capsule, or to provide you with the
capsule to transfer yourself.  You can
also buy these capsules in health food
stores or order them online.

  • Colored and Flavored Syrup - Ask
that the medicine be given in an
adult form (tablet or capsule), that is
    uncolored and unflavored and
    adjusted for the appropriate family
       member's age.

  • Always ask the pharmacist or
doctor if it is safe  to crush the
    tablets or open the capsules.

  • Check ingredients
        in baby vitamins,
        medicines and
        teething gels.

  • Scented diapers, diapers with dye to
       indicate wetness.

  • Diaper pail deodorizers.

  • Scented or colored lotion, baby
    wipes, powder, shampoo or soap.

  • Many formulas are loaded with
       preservatives.
Possible Problems
for Your  Baby
The Fancy
Dish Trick
It is great when you can have family and friends
over for meals because you have control
over what is served.  When your guests bring
offerings of food that may not be acceptable,
you can handle it smoothly like this:

Arrange the gift item (cookies, or whatever) on a
very fancy platter or bowl you keep for this
purpose.  Teach your children in advance that
these special dishes indicate a questionable or
an unacceptable item. This way, you won’t  have
to worry about the children eating unacceptable
foods by accident, and your dinner guests feel
very special too!
